Cork

The cork for Bambu cork products is harvested from the Chinese Cork Oak (Quercus variabilis). Cork oak is native to China, Japan, Korea and other countries. The average lifespan of a cork oak tree is about 170 years. The bark, from which cork is made, is harvested every 10-12 years. Harvesting the cork does not harm the tree and a new layer of cork re-grows, making it a renewable resource.

Cork fabric is dust and stain-repellent and is also waterproof and washable. Cork fabric is produced by laminating sheets of natural cork to a cotton blend backing. It is then hand-stitched to make the various products.

Bambu’s cork boards are made from high density particle cork and are lightweight and stain-resistant. They do not blunt kitchen knives and are kind to wrists too.
